Tonight’s meeting went quite well. We closed a little early so that we wouldn’t be locked into the library, but we had a lively discussion on getting published in Community Voices and other publishing venues. We discussed formats and the presentation of our work. The Daily Herald is flexible, but it’s good practice to submit things as close to publisher-defined criteria as possible. Cheryl had a couple of samples, one each for a story and one for a poem. We also discussed how we’d submit longer stories, over 1,000 words because those would be broken up into parts by the editor anyway.
It was suggested that our assignments for the next little while would be to submit stories and/or poems to Community Voices as practice for submitting novels and poetry collections to a publisher.
